We are currently looking for a Heavy Equipment Operator / Site Supervisor to join our growing team. In this role, you will be working on a variety of job sites operating a mixture of heavy equipment including excavators, dozers, loaders, skid steers, backhoes, snowplows, and other equipment to carry out excavation, backfill, grading, demolition,snow clearing, sanitary, storm, water services, etc.
Suitable team members are reliable individuals that enjoy working outdoors on a daily basis and are comfortable using various excavation related tools and equipment.

Safely and efficiently operate heavy construction equipment.
Perform daily reporting, equipment inspections and service including fueling and minor repairs.
Communicating any unsafe conditions or accidents/ injuries in a timely manner.
Coordinate activities with other drivers and operators, as well as provide directions to trucks and labourers on site when necessary.
Comply with all governing industry safety and regulatory requirements.
When required, act as the site supervisor to all Village Earthworks employees.
Other duties may be assigned as required.

Minimum 3 years of previous heavy equipment operating experience.
Possess a valid Class G driver’s license, DZ / AZ license is preferred.
Basic knowledge of truck and equipment safety.
Basic mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance considered an asset.
Strong work ethic and interest in being a part of the team.
Understand design drawings, utility locates and able to set grades.
Ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
Self-directed and self-starter with the ability to work with little supervision or as part of a team.
Ability to work independently, problem solve and meet schedule objectives.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Interest in continuing to learn and grow with the business.
Comply with all governing industry safety and regulatory requirements.

24/7 availability may be required, overtime as required.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
Travel to off-site locations.
Safety equipment will be required, e.g., steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
Hazards associated with the trade.
Must be able to sit, stand, bend and/or crouch for long periods of time.
Schedule
10-hour shift Day shift
Monday to Friday
Ability to commute/relocate: Kitchener-Waterloo, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
